Challenge We experience frequent changes of administrative leadership

Summary

Our school district is experiencing frequent changes in administration, either at central office or the building level. Because of these staffing changes, it is hard to maintain, let alone move forward, with curriculum, instruction, and assessment projects and programs for mathematics and other content areas.

We seem to just get started on something, and a new administrator comes into the district and doesn't like or doesn't know about the project/program we are using, so wants to change it.

How can be keep on track with our initiatives when the building or district leader changes?

Strategies

  • Use School Improvement Plans to focus and drive mathematics program improvement.
  • Use data to improve mathematics programs. This involves collecting, analyzing, and interpreting multiple kinds of data, and then planning and implementing projects and programs based on identified needs (rather than people's reactions).
