Tool Math Clinics

Summary

The strategy calls for drop-in clinics for students who need periodic or occasional help with the regular program. Many students may fit this situation from time to time. Students could be assigned to the clinic on a given day, or just drop in on their own. The clinic would operate at times when mathematics was not being taught so students could continue to participate in the regular program. Math clinics could be staffed by teachers and supported by advanced mathematics students.

The main material at the clinic will be the regular program materials the purpose is to help with the already assigned work, not to add more work to those that are already struggling. There are some online resources that could help the clinic teachers:

These sites have some good explanations and illustrations and interactive activities that can help understanding. Many are aimed at the teacher rather than the student.
